Lon Baker Is Home

Lon Baker, who sang bass with the Echoes from Calvary for the first 23 years of it's existence, went home on Saturday, November 29th.

One of the most requested songs at an Echoes singing during his tenure as bass was "It Will Be Worth It All." Well, Lon now knows first-hand what made it worth it all. Now, he's in that Heavenly Choir, where "For Ten Thousand Years, we'll sing 'Amazing Grace. It will be worth it all when we get home."

Enjoy your crown, Lon. (And we're sure he has already laid it at Jesus' feet.)

What a wonderful eulogy for such a wonderful man. I grew up listening to Lon sing at the First Baptist Church in Golconda. He was a dear friend of my father. His was a life well lived.

The Baker Family has always been special to our family and Lon's friendship with our Dad was a special gift. He indeed will be missed but Heaven the richer. God Speed, Lon Baker.

Thanks David for your kind words about my Poppie as I called him so often, He was my father-in-law, but was more like a dad to me. He was also my friend. When he passed away that following Sunday at church I felt led for Roy Lee and I to sing "It Will Be Worth It All", and we did, it was a tribute to him, even though I broke down during some of it. But I thank God for such a wonderful man, that lived his life for our Lord the way he did.
